FLOWERS ROCK!

I always feel inspired after watching award shows, especially the Grammys. The rock legends, the music, the drama and of course- the fashion! This year it seemed lace stole the show- whether it was over your face, or your entire wardrobe. The fun for me; imagining what type of bouquets I could create that would match the personality of the rock/fashion icon. Here's my go at it...

Ms. Lady Gaga:
First choice of flowers: the black orchid- it is a mysterious flower, like most of Gaga's outfits. According to the onlineflowersguide.com, you typically hear about black orchids in witchcraft stories, and spooky legends. The black orchid is becoming a rarity due to destruction of its natural environment. Next, the black calla lily which are rarer than traditional calla lilies, and not true in black color (more deep purple/maroon). The calla lily would add just enough height and structure to the bouquet. Since Gaga is anything but traditional, she would be in need of a wow factor- which is where the black/white eel skin leather cuff comes in. How fabulous would this be as a bouquet handle?... enough to go gaga over (had to do it...).

Winner of six grammy's... Ms. Adele. Just adore her, and her soulful music. How stunning was her black 50's style dress and hair!So for Adele's bouquet, and to keep with our theme, I would stick with black flowers-just a little softer. Below are two soft floral classics- black hydrangea and black dahlia. The black dahlia is an eye catching flower, that is absolutely stunning. The hydrangea would offer the bouquet a classic, simple but necessary element. The lace would wrap elegantly around the handle of the bouquet, and to add that extra special touch a vintage- styled Channel brooch. Brooch's are such personal and creative touch to add to any floral bouquet.

Just because of her outlandish outfit, I had to include her in my inspirational mix- Ms. Fergie. Her outfit was such a statement, so must be her bouquet. How about a combo of tiger lilies, calla lilies, and orange roses- with a bouquet handle wrapped in snake skin. Take it in..it's a lot of orange to process... but just like Fergies dress- your not going to be able to take your eyes off of it! Over the top, and daring- BUT if you have the confidence to work it, your bouquet will be published in every wedding magazine!

Thanks for letting me indulge in a little Grammy Floral Rock. If you have any idea's for say Taylor Swift, or Niki Manaj let me know. Until next award show...

......AFTER THOUGHTS.

I hear this all the time from our brides, " I just wish I could take these flowers home with me". I would love nothing more than to send each bride home with a floral parting gift. After all it's the most special day of their lives, they should be able to keep smelling the roses. So here ar
e some idea's to keep your Bella Grace flowers alive!

It seems Botanical Inspired prints are dominating the 2012 Spring Collection of Fashion Designers from Carolina Herrera to Probal Gurung- thank you Mother Nature! Want this look? How about straight from your wedding bouquet! Have your photographer take up close, abstract photo's of your floral arrangements, bouquets, boutonnieres etc. Take your photo's to spoonflower.com, upload and have your wedding floral printed to any type of fabric you can think of. There's nothing more charming than a fun beach cover up made out of your wedding bouquet!

Another fun idea for your floral fabric, create a luxurious throw pillow- like this green mum beauty. Garden Therapy on etsy.com has many inspirations to work from!

Want more.... here's one for our jewelry fanatics! Resin... yes resin. Have your flowers dipped in resin; find your nearest surf board shaper or craft store and purchase a small container of resin (some suggest poly-resin). Take a look at these stunning necklaces made by Meredith Restein of Moonrise Jewelry. Real orchids dipped in resin. We didn't want to leave you hanging, so we did a little research and found a really good link to a DIY resin floral tutorial (http://jewelersstudiointhewoods.blogspot.com/2009/04/resin-dipped-flowers-how-to.html). GOOD LUCK!
